A multi-domain certificate (SAN, also known as UCC) secures several different domains with one file: example.com, example.lv and example.eu live in a single certificate with a single renewal date. Two to four addresses are included, the rest are bought as extra items — usually up to 100–250 domains per certificate. Ownership is confirmed for every domain separately, and adding a new address means a free reissue. The price starts at €20.90 a year and the catalogue holds 17 options with domain, organization and extended validation. If you need the subdomains of one domain rather than different domains, a wildcard costs less.

Multi-domain, wildcard or several single certificates
The choice depends on what exactly has to be covered.
- Different domains (example.com and example.lv) — a multi-domain certificate.
- Subdomains of one domain (shop. and mail.) — a wildcard, which is cheaper.
- Both at once — a multi-domain wildcard: several domains, each with its subdomains.
- A single site — an ordinary certificate; there is no reason to pay extra for SAN entries.
What to keep in mind when ordering
A few practical points:
- Collect the list of domains up front — every one of them has to be validated.
- Adding a domain means a reissue. It is free, but the certificate has to be reinstalled on the servers.
- Every domain is visible inside the certificate. If your projects must not be publicly linked, take separate certificates.
- For Exchange take a UCC line — it is designed for the service names of a mail server.
