DigiCert is the premium certificate authority: a CA warranty of up to $2,000,000, an in-house validation team and extra monitoring services in the senior lines. It has no cheap DV certificates under its own name — the price starts at €226.90 a year with organization validation already included, and OV is often issued the same day. The lines are graded by warranty: Standard SSL and Basic at $1,000,000, Secure Site at $1,750,000, Secure Site Pro at $2,000,000 plus certificate monitoring and site scanning. The same level of browser trust costs less under the DigiCert brands — GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL.

Is DigiCert worth the extra money
Encryption and browser trust are the same across all authorities — a DigiCert certificate is not technically safer. The difference lies elsewhere:
- Warranty — up to $2,000,000 against $500,000 in the high-volume lines.
- Validation speed: DigiCert runs its own validation team, and OV is often issued the same day.
- Partner requirements. Sometimes a specific authority is written into a contract or a security policy.
- Extra services in the higher lines: certificate monitoring and website scanning.
Without those requirements, GeoTrust or Sectigo give the same level of trust for less.
